 Title: CPYSL & CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) CONCERNS
Description:
March 13, 2020

To all clubs, teams, coaches, parents:

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Background

Due to the rapidly changing concerns nationally we are witnessing with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Central Penn Youth Soccer League is actively monitoring the situation to make an informed decision on the start of our Spring 2020 season.

Findings

As CPYSL has monitored the growing threat of the coronavirus, we note that the federal, state, and even local health agencies are aggressively calling for all individuals to use diligence in their daily lives. This includes each individual doing the best possible actions to reduce exposure to the threat. This virus is spread mainly through person to person contact, with the prevalence of respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land on people or surfaces nearby or even inhaled during their travel thereby creating a never-ending chance to spread the virus to others.

To assist in reducing exposure, avoiding close contact, wash hands (with soap & water for minimum 20 seconds) especially after being in public areas, or after a cough, sneeze, or blowing of your nose. Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. If soap and water are not available use of a hand sanitizer with a 60% alcohol content is an effective alternative, cover all surfaces of the hands until dry to touch. Clean and disinfect surfaces daily, including but not limited to tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.

Policy in Place

At this time, the CPYSL Spring 2020 season is being readied for scheduling, however we will not be releasing a schedule for the time being as we continue to monitor the virus and listen to the health experts recommendations to minimize the health risks for our participants. As EPYSA is suspending soccer related activity through the end of March, with that it seems prudent that CPYSL closes the preseason practices and scrimmages before our scheduled season is to start. At this time our league is provisionally to start on the 4th of April, we will make a determination within the next few weeks as the virus pandemic unfolds as to the actual start of the season, the number of games to be played, and any allowances to be made because of this concern.

As always, our league will continue to operate to best serve our member clubs.

Respectfully;

James Conners

President CPYSL
